Term 2 Week 4

Room 21’s Week 4 Wrap Up

Thanks so much to the families who have already participated in our ‘dinner book’ this past week.  We have really been enjoying sharing our special meals (and we’ve been made quite hungry by looking at the delicious meals in the photos taken).   It is so wonderful to see the children spending quality time with their families and learning some skills of baking at the same time.

This week’s Science experiment was a BLAST – literally!  T-30 and counting might give you a hint to what we did this week...we built rockets!  Using everyday items, we asked the question, can we make a rocket?  And simply, the answer was YES!  Firstly, we decorated an empty plastic soft drink bottle to make it look like a rocket.  Then, using a funnel, we added a few tablespoons of baking soda.  Next we poured in a cup of vinegar and quickly put a wine cork in the bottle.  We noticed when we added the vinegar it mixed with the baking soda to make a frothy white substance.  As the pressure built up inside the bottle, it forced out the cork and our rocket took off up into the air.  A W E S O M E!!  We learnt that when you mix baking soda with vinegar it causes a chemical reaction.  You can try this experiment at home and you can even use this same process to make your own volcano – why not give it a try?

Hey, try this wordle...it was a tricky one that had us going for a few days...

I E C E X P E C T

Maybe the hint that it has something to do with a spelling rule might help you?

Give up???

I before E, except after C Hahaha – did you get it?  Why does it seem so easy when you’re given the answer???

Until next week,

Keep cool til after school
