Term 1 Week 3

It’s been another action packed week in Room 21.  It started off with a hiss and a roar on Monday morning when we were the guest audience at MVTV.  Jude, Blake and Renae did a cracker of a job presenting on the show.  Monday’s show was also the much awaited debut of our hat advertisement.  I was so proud of the efforts of every child in making this ad.  There are some wonderful actors in our room ;)

Wordle of the week started this week.  Each day there is a quirkey ‘wordle’ on the board and the children have to think creatively to solve the problem.  BAN  ANA had us going all day long – do you know the answer?  What about NOON  LAZY  ?  Have a think and the answers will be at the bottom of the page.

On Wednesday afternoon, we enjoyed the warm weather by starting our art project under the tree outside of our classroom.  We are learning to sketch and shade appropriately in Art this project and instead of sketching our own portrait, we are sketching a buddy's portrait.  This means we are really looking closely at the detail and sizing of our drawing.  It is a work in progress at the moment, but I am really looking forward to the final products if the draft pieces are anything to go by.  I can’t wait to display them in our classroom.

Our Reading groups were started this week.  The Marshmallows are enjoying a ‘mouthwatering bite-sized’ book called Muddletopia.  What a crazy planet this would be to live on!  The Jellybeans are enjoying ‘Getting Bored’; a book about skateboarding and a talking dog – crazy, weird and interesting all at the same time.  The Kit-Kats and the Fruit Bursts are both enjoying books written by the famous Roald Dahl; Danny, the Champion of the World and Matilda respectively.  And of course, The Twits are continuing to entertain us as our whole class shared novel.

We have enjoyed having Mrs Jessie Kim in our class, a student teacher from Massey University, for the past few weeks.  We look forward to her return on the 8th March.

So did you work out the Wordles?  BAN  ANA is ‘banana split’ and NOON  LAZY is ‘Lazy Afternoon’.

Until next week,

Keep cool til after school
