Tracey Gillingham - Room 28 - Year 8
Hi everyone,
It is the start of Term Three, 2010. We are already half way through our year and can't believe we only have two more terms before we go on to high school. We are all working hard to get ourselves ready for high school next year.
This term we are studying the movement of people under the title 'I'm Here! Now What?'. We want to focus on our past and how this can impact and influence our future. Our focus questions are "How do I identify with my culture?", "What challenges do people face when they move?", "Where will I be in the future?" We will be looking at the early history of New Zealand through to the present age, with a particular focus on festivals and celebrations, food, housing, and recreation. We will spend a lot of time going through and discussing many issues that have risen as a result of movement of people both nationally and internationally.
Parent Interviews are in Week 2 of this term, and the children are looking forward to sharing their learning with their parents at this meeting. Have a great term everyone, enjoy the many interzone sport events that will be on throughout the term and hopefully you will come out winners in many of these events.
If there are any questions about what is happening in our classroom please contact our teacher on tgillingham@marinav.school.nz. We would also love to have our parents come and visit our classroom and see all of the wonderful work we are doing.
