Room 23 Term 1 2010!
Welcome back to MVS and 2010!
I hope you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and that the sun has fully recharged your batteries, ready for a very busy school term.
This term, our topic is “Speak Up”, in which we will be looking into the lives of those people who fought for their beliefs and other’s rights. We’ll be looking at our own heroes, those from around the world, and investigating what issues we’d like to stand up for and how we’d go about it.
Term one is also compulsory hat term. No hat, no play.
This term also holds a very exciting aspect of the programme, the Year 7 Activity Week. (Week 9, Monday 29th March – Thursday 1st April). This programme covers teamwork, confidence building and bush survival skills. There will be two days of learning based at school and two days exploring wider parts of Auckland, in which the learning of the new skills and information will be used. Newsletters and information sheets will be coming home with your children over the next few weeks.
Room 23 will be attending Manual on Monday mornings at Bruce McLaren Intermediate. The students need to be at school by 8.15am at the latest. Proper toe-covered shoes are to be worn and girls must also have their hair tied up. If your child is late and they miss the bus, they are to spend the morning working in Room 28, until we return.
School newsletters are always available to view via the school website, and they are always there so you can go back and double check dates and other relevant information. I am looking forward to another great term in the Intermediate department at MVS as we have a lot of great learning and opportunities happening.
Kind regards,
Nicola Martelli
