Isaac Oldham - Room 16 - Year 4
Hi, and welcome to 2010, room 16. I hope you have all had an excellent holiday. Firstly let me welcome you to our classroom.
We are off to a great start. The children are eager and motivated, to be back at school. You are welcome to visit our class before and after school, and if you need to contact me in regard to school related queries, please feel free to come in and see me, or email me through the website.
Our topic for term 1 is heroes. We will be looking at local heroes and the qualities that heroes have. Our study will compare these heroes and look at what we can do to recognise those heroes that are so often overlooked. We will also be looking at what we can do to contribute to our local community. The children will be given homework on a Monday, they will have one week to complete this and they will be required to bring homework in on a Friday for marking. Please note that this term is a "hats on" term, and the children are required to wear hats while outside playing. The children are also allowed water bottles to be kept on the desk. Please fill these with water if they are to be in the classroom. I look forward to having a fantastic year, and wish you all the best.

Term 2 is well underway.
The children are buzzing about our terms topic, Let’s Get Experimenting. This term we will be focusing on the processes of science, fair testing, persevering to succeed, results of experiments and of course lots of experiments.
We will be going on an exciting trip to see Peter Pan in action, on Friday 21st May.
In Mathematics this term, we are covering multiplication and division strategies in the first few weeks. We will then look at fractions and ratios. Lastly room 16 will be studying measurement. The children have written some great narrative writing, including character and setting descriptions. These should be published and up on the back wall by the end of the week. An action pack term is well underway.
