Term 3 Week 8

Room 21’s Week 8 Wrap Up

What an amazing experience we had at the Awataha Marae on Wednesday.  The children were absolutely buzzing with the activities and all their new learnings.  I hope they shared all their wonderful experiences with you on Wednesday night!

The Powhiri was quite an experience and being greeted initially by the haka was quite spine-tingling.  After morning tea, the children rotated around four exciting workshops, including flax weaving, Waiata singing, traditional Maori games and wood-carving.  We were all over-welmed by the warmth and friendliness of the people from the Marae.  We really felt like we were whanau and it will be lovely for us to visit the Marae in the future.  Perhaps your children could take you if you weren’t able to come with us on Wednesday?  The Awataha Marae people were very keen to see our Marina View children again in the near future.

We are in the process of writing an interesting report about our wonderful experience at the Marae.  Mrs Whitehead took LOTS of photos which she will display in a booklet with the children’s reports.  You are more than welcome to pop in and read them over the next week.  The reports explain, in detail, the wonderful learnings from each of the workshops and the feelings invoked from the trip on the children.

How did you get on with the online wordle last week?  The answer was ‘Cut above the rest’ (as in the word cut was written above all the other cuts).  This one must have been a tricky one as know one solved it.  As always, Grace tried her hardest and was the closest!  Well done Grace.  Don’t forget the online wordle is worth 50 points for your group and a chance to go on the raffle board!

Good luck!

Until next week,
