Room 21’s Week 7 Wrap Up
Our Game of the Week segment on MVTV is in full swing now. The children are enjoying teaching the school a variety of games to be played at lunchtime or in PE. Thanks Mr Gover for all your support in getting this cool segment back up and running again. At the moment we are developing our presenting skills and eventually the children of Room 21 will be able to do the filming of the games and perhaps even the editing with Mr Gover – awesome!
In Writing this week we have been learning how to paint a vivid picture in the reader’s mind. Our focus has been free verse poetry and using verbs and adjectives, similes and metaphors. Here are just a few of the amazing poems that the children were able to come up with. There are more wonderful poems on display in Room 21 if you have a chance to pop in and read them.
Lake
A Lake is as dazzling as a crystal.
When it moves, it looks like a tap running.
Under the water, it is like an eel pool.
The lake is a peaceful forest where a hidden water plant dances.
Renae
Lake
The lake was as bottomless as a sinking hole.
The trees around the lake are as high as the Sky Tower.
The weeds are as tight as a padlock.
The lake is filled with fish as deadly as sharks with razor sharp teeth of a dragon.
Luke
Volcano
The volcano is like a cigarette spreading ash everywhere.
The volcano has a thick crust like a rock.
The volcano is as hazardous as a loose elephant.
The volcano is like a shaken up bottle ready to explode.
The volcano is as colossal as a mountain.
Yasmin
In Te Reo Maori, we have been learning how to write and present a Mihi. This week we created our own olden day looking treaties with our personal Mihi’s on them. They look very authentic; some even look like they really travelled around Aotearoa with the Treaty of Waitangi! We are looking forward to presenting them to our class before the end of this term.
How did you get on with the online wordle last week? The answer was ‘Night Falls’ (as in the word check was written like it was falling down). This one must have been a tricky one as know one solved it. Although Kelly, Courtney and Grace tried extremely hard to work it out – great effort girls! Don’t forget the online wordle is worth 50 points for your group and a chance to go on the raffle board!
