Term 3 Week 2
Room 21’s Week 2 Wrap Up
What a fantastic week of speeches. I have been so impressed with the quality of speeches this year and the interesting variety of topics. Congratulations to everyone for getting up in front of the class and presenting an awesome speech. I can tell a lot of research and effort has gone into your speeches. A special congratulations to Tanis & Trent for winning the room 21 competition and have made it into the Year 5/6 Speech final next week on Thursday. Good luck!
On Tuesday we were lucky enough to participate in a specialist Aussie Rules (AFL) Coaching session. What a fantastic opportunity for us all, as for many of us, this was the first introduction to this brilliant game. We all learnt some wonderful skills and look forward to trying them out in our own PE lessons over the term. Thanks to Mr Barnard for organising this for all the children in years 5-8. We hope to start an after school programme learning the fun skills of AFL. If you’re interested and wish to join make sure you listen to Tom very carefully at the next Assembly, where he will give you all the details you need. Don’t forget when you join, you get a free backpack and an AFL ball! Awesome!
Our focus on Wednesday was our calendar art. This year we focussed on the technique of Scraffito (or crayon engraving). We chose the topic of NZ birds, as part of our Looking back to look forward unit. The children have produced some wonderful looking art that will look magnificent in a calendar. What a super gift for family and friends at Christmas time. Your child’s art work will be available to see in week 4 and decide if you wish to purchase a calendar.
Thank you to all the parents who have already paid for their class photo and activity fees. If you haven’t done so yet, could you please do so in the following week. Thanks for your co-operation.
How did you get on with the online wordle last week? The answer was ‘Headquarters’ (as in the word head was broken into 4 parts). So how about another one? Don’t forget the online wordle is worth 50 points for your group and a chance to go on the raffle board!
Weekkkkk
And finally, thanks so much to the parents and children who were able to make it to the parent interviews on Thursday. It was lovely to see you all and discuss your child’s progress. For those parents who were unable to make it, I am looking forward to catching up with you over the next few weeks.
Until next week,
Keep cool til after school
