Term 3 Week 10
Room 21’s Week 10 Wrap Up
Wow! It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up another term already. Who could have thought 10 weeks could fly by so quickly? There has been much academic, sporting and cultural progress made this term. I would like to thank all the children in Room 21 for all their hard work this term. It is wonderful to see so many of you achieving in so many areas.
As is tradition in Room 21, in the last week of school, we focus our attention on presenting plays in Reading. Each group worked very hard this week to learn and dramatically perform their play in front of the class. We all enjoyed watching the actors and actresses of the future on Thursday. We even enjoyed the suspense of ‘The Disappearance of Dudley Dingle’ over 2 days! The group certainly had us on the edge of our seats wondering what exactly was going to happen in this particular play – well done Kit Kats!
Congrats to our class netball team who won the lunchtime netball competition this term! After the round robin play we were in 4th place. In the semi final we played the first placed team and won and then beat the second place team in the final! What an amazing effort. You really came together as a team over the term and developed some wonderful skills. So well done Jade, Chrisma, Kayla, Caitlin, Yasmin, Caleb, Jude and Kieren – you did us proud!!!!
In Writing this week, we used our calendar Art as inspiration to write some uniquely creative free verse poems. Each child chose a bid significant to Aoteoroa (kiwi, pukeko, moa etc...) and using verbs, adjectives, similes and metaphors, they described its features and its movement patterns. Here a just a few wonderful samples below. The rest are on display in our classroom for your, and our, enjoyment. Please feel free to pop in a take a look.
On Thursday we celebrated ‘International Day’ with a wonderfully cultural shared lunch and the children dressing up in their special cultural clothing. It was a wonderful way to wrap up of New Zealand unit and a chance for each of the children to share their beautiful culture with each other. Thank you to the parents for sharing your amazing food – we were certainly very spoilt and enjoyed every last bit!! It was also special to have a number of grandparents with us. Thank you for taking time out of your day and sharing it with your beautiful grandchildren.
How did you get on with the online wordle last week? The answer was Big Bird (as in the word bird was written in big letters to make you think of big bird from Sesame street). Congrats Jade, Kylie, Grace, Daniel and Jude for solving this one! See if this one has you guessing over the holidays. Don’t forget the online wordle is worth 50 points for your group and a chance to go on the raffle board!
He’s/Himself
Finally I thank Room 21 again for such an awesome term. I hope you all have a fabulous 2 week holiday with your families. I look forward to another action packed term 4 and will see you back here on Monday 11th October.
Good luck!
Until next week,
Keep cool til after school
