Term 3 Week 1
Room 21’s Week 1 Wrap Up
Welcome to Term 3 everyone. I hope you all had a relaxing holiday with your family.
Term 3 shall be as action packed as ever. Our integrated topic this term is; “Looking back to look forward”, with a special flavour of New Zealand’s history. It should be an exciting topic, with many opportunities to learn about the wonderful country we live in.
Over the last few weeks of term 2 and the next few weeks of term 3, Room 21 has been lucky enough to be having Te Reo Maori Lessons. They have been learning common phrases, pronunciation, and customs of the Maori people. They have been working on a mihi, which is a special speech introducing themselves and their families. I am really looking forward to the children presenting these in the next few weeks.
Hopefully everyone has been working hard on their speech over the holidays and the first week back at school. We have had a lot of fun this week doing our 30 second impromptu speeches. The children wrote ideas of topics and placed them in a container to draw out randomly. I was impressed with the confidence shown and the ability of everyone to laugh at themselves when having to speak about a totally random topic. Well done everyone!
How did you get on with the online holiday wordle? The answer was ‘You’re confused’ (as in the word you’re was all mixed up and thus confused). So how about another one? Don’t forget the online wordle is worth 50 points for your group and a chance to go on the raffle board!

This could be another tricky one I think....
Good luck!
Have fun practising your speech for the last time over the weekend everyone. We start on Monday!
Until next week,
Keep cool til after school
