Term 2 Week 3
Room 21’s Week 3 Wrap Up
As part of our ‘Awe & Wonder’ Science Unit, we began our cooking dinner at home book this week. Each night over the next few weeks, each child will have a chance to dazzle the class with a special meal they would like to make and share with their family. The Whitehead’s started the book off with an old fashioned roast chicken – yummy! I can’t wait to see what delicious dishes will be shared with us! Enjoy this special quality time with your family room 21.
Science this week embraced every child’s rite of passage – making paper darts (and being allowed to fly them round the classroom without getting into trouble!) Our big question was ‘can design features affect flight?’ We decided to test the stock standard long-time favourite paper dart design against a variety of ‘fancier’ darts and find out which flew better. We certainly enjoyed making the darts and testing them! A number of tests it became evident that the standard model flew the furtherest. Congrats to Liam, Luke and Jude who won the class competition. We then decided to make some stunt paper darts to see if adding curves and folds would make a difference to the flight pattern – it certainly did! While others adapted their original dart, by adding staples, sellotape or added more folds in an attempt to make it fly better. There were some amazing flight patterns in all categories. Room 21 are very talented at making darts- so watch out above! Check out these photos below of us enjoying our paper dart experiment.
Until next week,
Keep cool til after school
