Tracey Gillingham - Room 28 - Year 8
Hi everyone,
As we draw to the end of Term 3, we are getting excited about our final term at Marina View School before we head to High School. We are all working hard to get ourselves ready for high school next year. It is also exciting as we look forward to our graduation night and dinner out with our friends and teachers.
This term we have studied the movement of people under the title 'I'm Here! Now What?'. We have had a lot of discussions around the positives and negatives of immigration and the movement of people. Through it all we have gained an understanding of the difficulties people face as a result of international and national movement. We also celebrated with an International Day in the last week (Photos to follow), where we dressed up in our own cultural dress and we were able to share a variety of cultural dishes for lunch.
In Term Four we are going to be studying "Big Business". Throughout this unit we are going to look at a variety of career options available to us, and understand the multiple career paths we may like to take. Also throughout this unit, we will be setting up and running a business where we will be making and selling a product at our Market Day. Each group is going to choose a charity, to which their profits will be sent.
If there are any questions about what is happening in our classroom please contact our teacher on tgillingham@marinav.school.nz. We would also love to have our parents come and visit our classroom and see all of the wonderful work we are doing.
