Stacey Brown - Room 9 - Year 2

I hope you all had a great break and you are ready to get started on the exciting term ahead. We had a fantastic term last term leaning alot about the history of New Zealand. This term will be covering the core curriculum areas with a big focus on Enterprise. The unit is called Hamburger Heaven. We will be looking at the different aspects of a business including market research, making and testing products, mass production, advertising all leading up to creating our own product. Our value this term is creativity which ties in nicely to the unit as we will be having many opportunities to be creative. It should be a very interesting topic with lots of great opportunities for the children to work with others to create a product.

We read everyday so your child will bring home a reader of which they need to read to you every afternoon. On this note some children who are reading gold and over will only have a book from me twice a week. Their poetry folders will come home with them on Friday afternoon to read over the weekend. Your support with reading makes a difference. We are having trouble with books not coming back and if this is the case your child will not receive a book for the following night. The books are expensive and we would appreciate your support by sending them back each day with your child.

Our library day is Monday so your child should have a library book in the afternoon and needs to return it the following Monday.

For Art we will be exploring paint to create a seascape painting.
