Term 2

Wow - what a busy term.  It was only 9 weeks, but with our amazing topic it just flew by!!  Our Space exploration Unit highlights were: eating astronaut ice-cream (thanks Michael), a wonderful space incursion, a trip to the Stardome Observatory, groups reasearch projects on the planets and an individual research project on a topic of our choice.

Our space unit helped inspire our Art thisterm and the children, or should I say artists, of room 21 produced the most amazing vivid and dye sun and moon designs.  These would not look astray hangin on the wall of a professional art exhbition in the city!  Our crative juices were allowed to continue to flow with our alien creatures made from all sorts of weird and wonderful objects.

A very special treat this term was our trip to the Circus at the Waitakere Trusts Stadium.  We saw some amazing performers from all ver the world, including New Zealand, Canada, China and more.

We read some exciting novels in reading this term.  The Polar Bears enjoyed Roald Dahl's The BFG.  The Penguins enjoyed C.S Lewis's The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  The Whales enjoyed E.B White's Charlotte's Web and the Seals enjoyed an old classic, Gulliver's Travels by Jonathon Swift.  We are trying really hard in room 21 to improve our comprehension and understanding when we read.  We will continue to improve on this in term 3 with some more spell-binding novels.

Thanks for a cracker of a term room 21.  Here's looking to another one in term 3!!!!
